around the office

On Wednesday morning, the aurors are all gathered in the conference room for their first mission debrief. Everyone is asked to present their findings and theories, as well as share their general plan for what leads they want to follow up on in the next couple of weeks. Eleanor expects coordination and teamwork, and she's keeping an eye out for anyone who seems tight-lipped in this meeting. No lone wolves on this job, if she can help it.

The few hours everyone spends in the board room are probably the longest most of them have seen Eleanor in the office since the operation began. Eleanor is a quiet observer, never contributing but always scrawling longhand notes with an eagle-feather quill. She thanks everyone tersely as the meeting wraps up and excuses herself. Arden follows closely.

It's past lunch time and stomachs are grumbling, but before Everett dismisses the remaining aurors he checks his own notebook.

"Pen, Andino, Silversmith, Oakley, Darling, Mordaunt... stop by my office before the end of the day."

With that, everyone is dismissed.

IC/OOC on 9/25: Liberatore Rubio is having a party! Invites are already out to this shindig. Rory Howlan is the only proper invitee and has a plus one, but Sidney, Sloan, and Llewyn have been invited by Andy Haanraadts, and Wendelin Sparks and Ichabod Godfrey have been invited by contacts they made in the local art scene. (OOC note: if anyone else would like to try to score an invite, they may use their downtime action to do so, but if too many people fail their rolls for this, they may blow the cover of those already invited.)

Mission on 10/6: The auror department will be attending a very fancy Art Auction in New York City.

On 9/23, [Duelist A] is contacted by the niffler-keeper at the Archive with an update. Everyone is accounted for and happily back in their enclosure.

On 9/26, Paloma Oakley decides to do some post-party recon at the Bellagio and finds Liberatore Rubio day-drinking at the brunch bar to nurse his hangover. Perfect opportunity to strike up a conversation! 🔎

On 9/28, Sage Wisecarver gets bored on their Crow Bar shift and decides to hold a darts tournament. [Character D] looks like they're going to be the big winner, but the competition is cut short when Vigilance Pryor hits Keeley Little in the eye with a dart. Astrid Weird manages to keep the situation under control until Healer Ashley arrives, and in the end everyone is patched up and no worse for wear. [Character H] manages to persuade Healer Ashley not to tell the Oddtrees about this, and he reluctantly agrees, so long as everyone involved promises to be more careful in the future.

On 9/30, Kit Mulholland pulls some strings to procure department funding for the auction. They have 75,000 dragots to distribute and spend as they see fit.

On 10/2, after spending all week hanging out in a seedy Vegas bar, Sloan Silversmith's recon pays off. They overhear a rumor about a black market art trade going down later in the evening. 🔎

On 10/5, [Character K] finds that the snazzy outfit they were going to wear to the art auction no longer fits them properly and has to seek out the help of X Quintana and Friday Plumberry to procure a new one last-minute.
